Due to a strong project pipeline and continued growth, they are looking for a talented and driven Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their multidisciplinary team in Dublin. This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a senior role where you can lead major projects, mentor junior engineers, and directly influence the success of diverse infrastructure and building services developments.

Job Summary

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will take the technical lead on the design and delivery of mechanical systems (HVAC, piping, and public health/plumbing) from initial concept through to site handover. Working closely with civil, structural, and electrical teams, you will ensure the seamless integration of energy-efficient, sustainable, and high-performing mechanical systems for a wide variety of commercial, residential, and public infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Design Engineering: Head up the design of heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) systems, public health (plumbing/drainage), fire protection systems, and building automation/controls.
  • Multidisciplinary Coordination: Collaborate seamlessly with the client's internal Civil, Structural, and Electrical engineering teams to ensure unified project delivery and clash-free designs.
  • Calculations & Simulation: Perform and verify detailed engineering calculations (heating/cooling loads, psychrometrics, ductwork/piping sizing, and hydraulic calculations) using industry-standard software.
  • Project & Site Management: Oversee the production of high-quality tender and construction packages, attend site meetings, conduct inspections, and resolve contractor RFIs.
  • Sustainability & Compliance: Guarantee all designs comply with relevant building regulations, local mechanical codes, and sustainable building standards (e.g., LEED/BREEAM), promoting energy-efficient solutions.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance, technical support, and quality assurance reviews to intermediate and junior mechanical designers within the team.

Qualifications & Experience Required

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
